The Stewardship of Mysteries Series: The Creation Waits
Good morning brethren.
Last week we spoke about our role as stewards of the mysteries of God, acknowledging that the solutions we seek are divine deposits entrusted to us. Today, we build on that foundation with a verse that adds a sense of urgency and purpose to our work.
"For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God." - Romans 8:19
This verse paints a powerful picture. The world around us, with all its challenges and brokenness, is not just in a state of decay; it's in a state of eager longing. It's a living entity waiting for something, or rather, for someone.
The "sons of God" are not just a select few. They are you and me. We are the ones who have the potential to reveal God’s solutions to the world. The problems we are tackling in our businesses—whether it's poverty, inequality, or inefficiency—are the very things the creation is longing to see resolved.
This understanding elevates our work from a mere career to a calling. It means that the next line of code you write, the next product design you sketch, or the next business strategy you develop is part of a larger, cosmic plan. It's a response to the creation's desperate cry for a solution.
This perspective gives you a deeper sense of purpose beyond financial gain. It's not just about building a successful company; it's about fulfilling a divine mandate. It’s about being the answer to a prayer the world didn't even know it was praying.
So, as you go about your work today, remember the weight and the privilege of this calling. The creation is waiting. Let's not keep it waiting any longer.
Let's pray.
Amen.
